About Best Thing Ever
BEST THING EVER is our family's name for our home on St George Island. And we really do think it is the BEST thing ever on St George Island. We have a new pool that was completed March 2020. One of the largest on the island. Our home has been extensively remodeled and decorated with freshly painted walls and kitchen cabinets, new quartz counter tops, new stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, updated bathrooms and new doors. We have recently re-decorated with new furniture, décor and bedding. Our home has 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms and expansive covered decks off each level! Up the stairs to the first level, you will find 3 generously sized bedrooms: beach side is a spacious master bedroom and bath with your own private access to the large covered porch. Another beach side bedroom is the guest bedroom with queen bed with private access to the same covered porch. Wake up each morning to views of the gulf with dolphins jumping in the waves. This level also has a fun kids bunk room with 2 bunk beds that sleep 4 children, fun lounge chairs and their own private TV DVD combo. A great spot to give kids their own space to play or lounge while watching movies. The guest bedroom and kids bunk room share a large hall bathroom, with new quartz counter tops, updated plumbing and lighting fixtures and a nice sized tub shower combo. The laundry room is conveniently located on this level with a washer and dryer. We also have an elevator that makes it easy for luggage and groceries!
The second level is an open concept living room/dining room and kitchen with floor to ceiling windows for amazing views of the gulf. From this level, you can see the sugar white sand beach and stunning gulf views. New sectional sofa and club chairs along with unique beach decorative accessories, new large flat screen TV, mounted to swivel for easy viewing of movies or sports games. The updated kitchen has new quartz counter tops and all new stainless steel appliances. The formal dining area has large dining table with seating for 8, and the kitchen island has 4 bar stools. This great room is ideal for large family groups and is the perfect gathering spot for your family. Just off the great room is a bedroom with a large king bed and a full bathroom with new quartz counter tops and updated plumbing and lighting fixtures. This bathroom is shared with the great room. Last but not least is the large expansive covered porch, making for the perfect outdoor space to take in stunning sunsets and incredible starry nights.
Our home has a boardwalk to the beach for easy and quick access and is located between the beach and the bike path for easy access to all the fun amenities that St George Island has to offer. We know that when you leave our home, you will say, this was the BEST THING EVER!

We were sick of the Destin and 30A crowds - sitting 3 umbrellas deep so we booked this place for us and another family. Great step up for 4 adults, 3 kids and the mother in law... we had direct access to the beach and no condos or neighborhoods nearby to flood the beach. It was great. They updated it nicely too... new TVs and quite a view from the deck! Highly recommend!

My wife and I took our two kids (8 and 13) here for Spring Break. The place was everything we needed for a relaxing week away. First, the owner is easy to work with and super responsive to any questions we had! The house itself is great!! The decks on the beachside were perfect for my wife and I to have our morning coffee watching the sun rise . . . and our evening cocktails as we watched it set. We brought our bikes and rode into town to have ice cream and visit. The lighthouse was great for the kids. They enjoyed hearing about how it was damaged during hurricanes, and how the locals were able to salvage the bricks and rebuild it from the original plans. We also drove into Apalachicola where there are so many cool things to do! Most of the time, though, was just spent on the beach in the back yard. You cannot go wrong with this property. You will fall in love. I really wanted to keep the kids out of school for another week, and if they both didn't have testing the next week, I might have!! Thanks for some great family memories!

Brought the family down for the first time to St. George and the place did not disappoint. Best Thing Ever has ample room for everyone, huge decks facing the beach, kitchen/living space is fresh and well appointed. If you need to get to town its just a short drive or bike ride to grab supplies or dinner. Best part is the beach - it is right off the front of the house, a short trip down the boardwalk, so easy and convenient. Looking forward to coming back.

Living Space
Best Thing Ever has lots to offer a family on vacation! Easy access to the beach, large yard for playing when not on the beach, on the bike path for fun walks and bike rides, and conveniently located on the East end of the island. We are close enough to the center of the island without being in the traffic and noise.
Our home has been recently renovated and decorated. We offer a well stocked kitchen with new stainless steel appliances for easy family meals. The family room has new sectional sofa with new club chairs for lounging.
Our dining area is conveniently located next to the kitchen and has beautiful views of the beach with enough seating for 8. We also have a large kitchen bar with seating for 4, a great spot for kids to eat!

Best Thing Ever offers plenty of room for your family. With 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths, there is space for everyone. 2 king bedrooms, 1 queen bedroom and a bunk room with 2 bunk beds.
The first level ever offers a king bedroom with private bath, a queen room and a bunk room. Both the king and queen bedrooms have sliding doors that lead out to a large deck. The bunk room is a favorite with children and has books and DVDs to enjoy. There is also a hall bath and laundry on the first level. The second level has a large long room with full bathroom.

The 79 foot St George Island Lighthouse now stands proudly in the center of St George Island. The lighthouse is open for tours Monday-Wednesday 10-5 , closed Thursday, Friday-Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 12-5 . The Lighthouse Keepers Cottage has exhibits that tell about the early history of the islands, the keepers and their families and maritime culture of the area.Call (850) 927-7745 for information. Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve
Encompassing over 246,000 acres in Apalachicola Bay, it is the 2nd largest Estuarine Research Reserve system in the nation. Nature Center is located at 108 Island Drive, Eastpoint east side of the St. George Island Bridge. Attractions include exhibits on the flora and fauna of the area and aquarium facility featuring a variety of local fish and turtles. Open Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm (850) 670-7700. FREE!

Listed on the National Historic Registry, this 103 foot iron and steel structure was built in 1895, to guide ships through East Pass between Dog Island and St. George Island. The reconstructed keeper’s house features history and science exhibits and a gift shop. picnic and playground area, open dawn to dusk. Museum hours: Thursday thru Sunday, noon- 5pm. The Maritime Museum has been re founded to celebrate and preserve the maritime history of Apalachicola in a hands-on learning environment with active sailing program and adventure programs, boat-building, restoration and educational programs. Fishing
There are many spots to go fishing either from the beach or the bay. You can cast a rod from the shore, skim the flats, or head out to open water with a charter boat captain. The island two public boat ramps – one at the foot of the bridge as you arrive and another in the State Park at the east end.
